If you honestly think that NBC’s horrific coverage of Gabby Douglas has nothing to do with race, I’m gonna need you to put the tequila and/or blunt down. It’s pretty fucking obvious what NBC is doing and that shit ain’t cute.

So I literally JUST started watching the Olympics tonight. Finally. Trust me, it’s been killing me, as a never-any-good but still former gymnast and aquatic athlete, that I haven’t been watching the gymnastics, swimming, diving, and water polo.

That said, as I haven’t been following until tonight, I don’t know what’s been going on with NBC’s coverage of Gabby. I’ve seen plenty of gifs of her around tumblr and the young woman is a BAMF. But does anyone care to fill me in on what NBC has been doing/saying? I trust you all that they’ve been saying shitty things, but literally all I’ve heard so far was about her not sticking the landing on the vault and then discussing how Alexandra didn’t have as good of form while she was in the air as Gabby did moments before- standard fare for the sport. So I’m definitely curious.
