So remember that day a few weeks ago when it was ALL ABOUT IUDs up in here? Because I was planning to get one soon?
I’d called my insurance to make they’d cover it, and I was told that all I’d need to pay is my $20 copay for an office visit. I did that before I even started asking around on here and once I made up my mind, I made an appointment with my doctor.
Turns out the woman I’d talked to on the phone had no idea. She wasn’t sure when I talked to her at first but she asked around so I figured everything would be OK.
But then I just got a call from my doctor’s office- my insurance will pay 80%, but I haven’t met my deductible, so… If I got the IUD tomorrow as planned, I’d have to pay $750 or so for it.
Why is health insurance so hard to understand?
So I guess I’m staying on the pill for another year, until that whole free-birth-control-for-everyone-on-private-insurance thing kicks in. :(
